Dolostone is a lithified form of dolomite. Composed primarily of carbonate material, dolostone is a more stalwart rock than its chemical cousin, limestone. It is often mined for construction and infrastructure purposes, being used heavily in industry as concrete or in the home as countertops. In the classroom, this sample can be used to teach students about sedimentary petrology, chemical sedimentary rocks, and industrial geology. Each sample is approximately 1" long and comes in a labeled plastic bag.
